University of Hartford Bus Station
Hartford, Connecticut
The University of Hartford Bus Station replaces the old train tracks on the East side of campus, and replaces it with a CT Fasttrack rapid bus station. The bus station required access both from campus, as well as the streets just outside of campus. The bus station was designed for an ease of entry, protecting people all the way from the Uber drop off overhang, into the station, and out to the elevated platform.
The objective of this project was to attempt proper structure within the building and overhangs. This project involved students first structural analysis, as well as designing outdoor spaces. It was also students first approach at renderings.

The University of Hartford Bus Station was constructed of steel members ranging to a maximum length of 40 feet. The building was constructed using bearing walls, as well as independent columns to carry the load of primary and secondary beams. The structural system can be seen in the structural model, as well as the physical model.
